Welcome to Spirit Quester!

Hello! I'm so glad you stopped by to have a look at my blog!

My name is Mary Bird. I am a Spiritual/Intuitive Tarot Reader, Artist, and Reiki Master/Teacher. My Spirit Art includes Spirit Guide & Past Life Drawings and AuraScans. AuraScans are pictorial messages from your Higher Self that usually consist of colours, symbols, shapes, or even words. Each drawing comes with a guided message.

In my 15 years experinece with the Tarot, I have read at people's homes, street markets, psychic fairs, spiritual churches, shops and other businesses. My readings can be done in person, over the telephone, or via email. In addition to reading for people in my native Australia, I have read for people in New Zealand, USA, UK, Europe, and Asia.

Please feel free to browse this blog on a regular basis for I will be updating it with all information and articles. At the bottom you will find a short story I wrote in the early 1980s, many years belore I embraced my Spiritual Quest. It is called The House on Crescent Avenue. I hope you enjoy reading it.

I have another blog called Mystic Mary http://spirit-quester.blogspot.com/ Unlike this blog, Mystic Mary is solely dedicated to my book Redemption, an autobiographical account of how I came to embark upon my Spiritual Quest.

It's been a LONG, LONG time

I have been away from this blog for a VERY long time. I will try to get back to it. Life, sometimes, has plans other than those we have for ourselves

When it's time - it's time!

We frequently spend our days going about our daily business without much consideration for how we got to be where we are. Then something happens to make us sit up and take notice. Sometimes, we are not ready. Sometimes, we are ready but choose not to be. It's alright. We don't get demerit points for pretending to look the other way. We will always get another chance.

Life is like that. We can take the direct route, or we can take the scenic route. Sometimes, the scenic route is better in the long run because we get to stop here and there and take this or that by-way. From time to time we meet new people and we learn new things. This helps us to become more of who we are meant to be.

Each one of us is different. We need to honour the differences for this is what makes us individuals.

2012 - the year of change

Hi everyone,

I do apologise for being away for so long.

This year has been an roller-coaster, as we expected it would be, but not always how we expected it would be. So far this year I have been overseas for the very first time, a gift from my lovely daughter, Tamara. We were at Stonehenge on the Summer Solstice. We toured parts of England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales. We went to Singapore. When we came home events unfolded that saw me terminate a long term friendship. I won't go into the details here, at this time, but suffice to say it was very karmic and very much something that HAD to happen. This week I will be away again for about three weeks. When I get back I will spend some time adding to both my blogs.

When I get a chance I will load photos and talk about my trip overseas.

Thank you.
Mary :)

We are all on a Spirit Quest

When I first started meditating, long before I became aware of my own guides, I always saw a gold-robed woman standing at the back of a large pillared room. No matter how hard I tried, I could never get closer to her. Several years passed before I understood who she was. She was me!
We have lived so many lives, under so many personas, it would be impossible to learn about each and every one of them. Yet, we all know people who talk about their past lives as if they are some sort of status symbol. This is not only unhealthy, it is a waste of their current life. What does matter is healing soul memory which can cripple us physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Fear is the biggest barrier confronting us as past life and death experiences are deeply imbedded into our soul memory. In our current lifetime, we will rarely experience the same terrors, but we will be exposed to the fear attached to them.
My deepest fear lay in openly acknowledging my spirituality for in countless lifetimes I was persecuted, imprisioned, tortured, and executed for my beliefs. That wasn't going to happen in this life, but I had to face the fear of "laying my head on the chopping block". Once I contronted that fear, it's hold over me was extinguished. I have never looked back.

I got my first Tarot deck in 1996. I now have a significant collection. What attracts me to a particular deck? The artwork usually. However, in 1998, one deck chose me - the Robin Wood Tarot published by Llewellyn - http://www.llewellyn.com/

I was seeking a simple but genuine book for my daughter to go with the cards I bought her for Christmas. To that end, I examined every book in the Mind, Body and Spirit section of the store. Yet, when I turned to pay for the book I selected, another grabbed my attention. I knew it was not there before. I knew how many people and staff were in the store at the time. I knew no other human being had approached that section. When I opened it up, black and white pictures of a deck I had never seen before called to my soul. I couldn't afford two books so I put the latter on Lay-By.

The next day we went to a psychic fair in a nearby suburb. One stall featured a long table packed with books and Tarot decks. The one I sought was not among them. When asked what I was looking for I told the stall holder about my uncanny experience. "Oh" he said. "The Robin Wood deck! Yes. They are very hard to get. I have put an order in, but that was months ago. I tell you what. Give me your name and phone number and when they eventually arrive I will call you." Believe it or not, I got the call two days later. Five days after that, I had those cards in my hot little hands. Some things are just meant to be.
Infinitely more beautiful in colour, the Robin Wood is still my favourite Tarot deck when reading for clients. They convey a clear message, and that's all a Tarot card needs to do.
